Step 2 - Login with your user name and password you created in step 1.
Step 3 - In account manager (click on account in the upper right after you have logged in) go to the Home Tab, and enter Trailmaps in the Join A Workspace, hit Submit.
Step 4 - You can now start creating and editing pages.
Adopting a Page
By adopting a page you are agreeing to contribute material to that specific page and oversee the additions. This is totally voluntary - you can stop at any time and you can team with others to adopt a page. Organizations can adopt pages. To adopt a page simply use the Edit Page, and add to the bottom of the page that you are adopting it. You can adopt a State, County, or simply an individual location. You can also create pages to adopt. In this manner you are contributing information for the rest of the world.
Creating a Page
To contribute to this site, the easiest thing to do is to create a new page. This is about as simple as it can get - click the "New Page" button at the top of the screen. For simplicity in naming your page, simply use the name of the state, followed by the name of the park or area where you are describing. You will need to use the wiki password, maps. An example would be Florida - Moss Park. When you create this new page, you will get to see the PB wiki editor. The editor is pretty easy to use, and your page can have anything, maps, links, geocaches, pictures. Pretty much any information that folks that might visit the area would be interested in.
Naming Pages:
When naming pages try to use these conventions, it will help with the site maintenance. A page countaining information about trails in parks in a specific county should be
StateName - CountyName
A page containing information about a particular area, park, forest, or wilderness area should be either
StateName - CountyName - ParkName
This will help us keep all the parks and other areas organized. Also feel free to place your name on the pages as a contributor.
Linking the Page
The standard linking scheme is to link the page to the state and county where the area you are creating the page is located. For this you will have to edit an existing page. This is also pretty easy to do - you simply click "Edit Page" while you are on the page you want to edit. To add a link, go to where you want to put the link, highlight some text (or even a space) and then click the Link button at the top. This will give you a menu of the existing pages (including the one you created) - from there just select it and hit OK.
Modifying a Page
Feel free to add materials to any of the existing pages, it is easy and the more info on each area the better. For the park pages we have thought of all sortd of material, but don't sto with what we have thought of. Here are some ideas; Direction, Maps, Links to Information, Geochaches, Information about Activities, Costs and Fees, Pictures of the Area, Personal Thoughts.
Sponsorship
Part of what makes Trail Maps possible is the site fees paid by our sponsors. Because the idea was a collaboration between the site's original author and Travel Country Outdoors, that is our current sponsorship. If you are interested in sponsoring simply contact the site author and if your sponsorship is compatible - we'll make it happen. We also want to thank pbwiki.com who makes this incedible service available and easy to use. If you want to create your own wiki site for individual, education, or business use - please visit their main page.
