Montana is a state in the Pacific Northwest and Great Plains regions of the United States. With a land area of 145,552 square miles, it is the fourth largest State of the United States. However it is ranked 44th with a population of 997,670 citizens. Montana borders the Canadian provinces of British Columbia, Alberta, and Saskatchewan, which is more provinces than any other state. Tourism plays a role in Montana, with visitors to Yellowstone National Park, Glacier National Park, the Lewis and Clark trail, Flathead Lake, and the Battle of Little Bighorn site. Montana was originally inhabited by Native Americans, this includes the Crow, Cheyenne, the Blackfeet, Assiniboine, Gros Ventres, Kootenai, Salish, Pend d'Oreille, and Kalispel tribes. The state animal is the Grizzly bear, with the largest grizzly population in the lower 48 states. Helena is the capital of Montana, and Billings is it's largest city.
