Steuben County History

 

 

Steuben County, established on March 18, 1796, located in western New York,  was named for Major-General Frederick William Baron Von Steuben.

The County is divided into 27 small towns, Bath as the county seat.  Steuben County has 348 more square miles than Rhode Island.  The population

is about 100,000,  and it is home to the Finger Lakes region, wineries, Corning Museum and Glass, Watkins Glen, and the Glen Curtiss Museum in

Hammondsport.
