Spokane County, Washington
Information
Once a center for fur trading, today Spokane is the financial center of, and certainly the most cosmopolitan city in, eastern Washington. The name of the city was taken from a Native American word meaning "children of the sun," and Spokane is blessed with an average of 260 days of sunshine a year. The idyllic climate and location - the area is dotted with glistening lakes - make the city a mecca for outdoor recreation. Golf, mountain climbing, boating and fishing abound. Set an early tee time at any of the scenic and well-designed courses in the area, then walk, bike or canoe along the Centennial Trail. The possibilities are limitless!
