Colorado, is located in the Rocky Mountain region of the United States, and the Continental Divide stretches across the crest of the Rocky Mountains. Colorado was admitted into the Union on 08-01-1861. The State is home to more than 50 peaks that exceed 14,000 feet in elevation. The highest peak is Mount Elbert, which stands at 14,440ft. The current population of Colorado is 4,301,261 and it has an area of 104,185 square miles. Colorado is the only state that lies entirely above 3,000 meters elevation. Denver, the capital of Colorado, is nicknamed the "Mile High City" for it's elevation. Citizens of Colorado are offted called Coloradans.

Popular outdoor activities are skiing, snowboarding, hiking, climbing, mountain biking, hang-gliding, paragliding, camping, fishing, and hunting.
